Welcome To Atkisson Angus

Thank you for taking a moment to review what Atkisson Angus genetics can offer to advance your herd. We are a family operation in Northwest Kansas raising registered and commercial angus cattle, as well as a diversified crop farm. While the family has been raising
Angus cattle since the early 1960’s (including seedstock at that time), a renewed focus on producing seedstock was brought back in the mid 2000’s. The registered female herd was then built slowly and deliberately through very selective purchases and through the use of Embyro
Transfer (ET). The genetic base of the herd has been centered around cattle purchased from our good friends and mentors, John and Bonnie Slocombe of BJ Angus in Manhattan, KS.

Producing sound, functional, and fertile cattle is the goal of this operation. An emphasis in the breeding program is to build calves that are born without assistance, gain rapidly, and mature early. The cow herd to produce these calves must also be moderate, easy fleshing, and breed back quickly with no special treatment. Our registered cows are run right alongside our commercial cattle: on grass 365 days a year, no silage, and minimal hay and supplement.

I truly believe that this year’s offering of bulls not only exemplifies what is stated above, but they also bring a tremendous amount of performance and carcass merit to the table. Breeding cattle can be a balancing act of performance vs. stay ability, but we are committed to building genetics that have “Real World Functionality” with as much end product merit as our environment will support.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions. Customers are the foundation of any business; questions and feedback are how we improve.

We guarantee that all breeding cattle sold by Atkisson Angus are fertile to the best of our knowledge. If at any time during the first breeding season (100 days) following the sale, a bull is injured so as to make them functionally infertile, we will provide you with a satisfactory replacement (if available), or issue you a credit equal to the bull’s purchase price minus the salvage value received for that bull. This guarantee, in addition to the Terms and Conditions of the American Angus Association, which also apply.
